Behind the scenes

What makes Flowaway retreats different?

There are a great many yoga retreats out there today. Some are built around switching off, others around an intensive practice or a very spiritual approach. At Flowaway we imagined a different experience: retreats where yoga holds a central place, but where you also come to discover, to share, to laugh, to dance and to make memories.

The essentials in 30 seconds

  • Flowaway has been running yoga retreats across France and Europe since 2023.
  • Yoga is at the centre, but the stay also includes activities, food, themed evenings and music.
  • The venues are entirely private and chosen for their setting and their comfort.
  • Every edition has its own venue, programme and atmosphere: no two are alike.
  • You can come on your own: most of the bonds are formed once you are there.

We call them the Yogi Festive Retreats. And that name sums up our state of mind rather well: taking care of yourself without giving up pleasure, practising seriously without taking yourself too seriously, and living a few days that are as restorative as they are joyful.

Venues with a soul

Every retreat begins with the search for the venue. And on that point, we are particularly demanding.

We choose characterful houses, surrounded by nature and comfortable enough for everyone to genuinely feel good. Looks matter, but they are not enough: we want a proper room dedicated to yoga, pleasant and well equipped, along with spaces where the group can gather without ever feeling cramped.

A proper room dedicated to the practice, in every venue we choose.

We also look for that little extra that turns a beautiful house into an exceptional place: a pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna, a gym, a spectacular view or surroundings that take you somewhere else entirely.

Every address has its own identity, but they all have one thing in common: they are places you enjoy living in and do not want to leave.

Yoga, but never quite in the same way

Yoga remains the thread running through every Flowaway retreat. That does not mean repeating the same class every day in a different setting.

We design varied practices, each with its own themes, moods and intentions. Some sessions invite you to slow down and come back to yourself. Others are more dynamic, more creative, sometimes unexpected. Music, very present during the classes, carries that variety and is fully part of the experience.

What we want is for every practice to have its own colour, and for the whole to form a real journey, designed specifically for the venue, the programme and the energy of the group.

Far more than a yoga retreat

At Flowaway, the stay never stops at the edge of the mat.

We come up with activities that let you move differently and discover the area: hikes, walks, water sports, village visits, cultural outings or experiences built around local specialities. The programme changes with the destination, always with the same intention: to make the most of everything the region has to offer.

After several retreats run in France, Flowaway is now heading off to discover new destinations abroad. A lovely chance to immerse ourselves in other landscapes, other cultures and other flavours.

An experience that runs through the table too

Conviviality is often built around a meal. The table therefore holds an essential place in our retreats.

We love generous menus, beautiful produce, long shared tables and aperitifs that stretch on because nobody really wants to get up. The food is part of discovering the destination, not least through local specialities and produce.

The final dinner holds a very special place. More festive, it may come with wines chosen to match the dishes, and it celebrates the days spent together. It is not simply the last meal of the stay: it is one of its high points.

Themed evenings, another way of coming together

A Flowaway retreat also comes alive after the last class of the day.

Our themed evenings are a chance to gather in a different mood, to play with the codes of each edition and to let creativity speak. The evening in Flowaway colours, wearing the brand's clothes, reinforces that joyful sense of belonging to the same adventure.

But if there is one occasion that has become emblematic, it is our white party.

The white party, the occasion that has become emblematic of every edition.

Held on the final evening, it marks the high point of the retreat. Everyone interprets the theme their own way: an elegant or eccentric outfit, sequins, feathers, touches of gold or silver… The only rule is to dare to enjoy yourself.

After a beautiful aperitif and a celebratory dinner, the evening carries on with music. We laugh, we dance and, that night, nobody really watches the clock. Our retreats do not end in silence at eight in the evening: they are celebrated, sometimes well into the night.

Music as the memory of the stay

Music accompanies Flowaway retreats from the first class to the last dance.

Every edition has its own soundscape and its own playlists. They set the tempo of the practices, the aperitifs, the moments of rest and the evenings. Once home, guests often keep listening to them.

A few notes are then enough to bring back a landscape, a fit of laughter, a yoga session or an evening spent dancing. The playlist becomes the soundtrack of the retreat and a lovely way of keeping the memories going.

Connections that carry on after you leave

What sets Flowaway apart above all is probably the place given to the group.

People come sometimes alone, sometimes with a friend, wanting to practise or simply to give themselves a break. Then, very quickly, the conversations start. You share a mat, a hike, a meal, a song, a fit of laughter or a few dance steps.

Bonds form naturally because the experience does not rest on yoga alone. It multiplies the chances to meet in other ways, in effort as much as in rest, around a beautiful table as much as during an evening out.

Joining a retreat means entering the Flowaway community. You do not have to come to every edition to belong: once you have shared that state of mind, something stays. A closeness, shared memories and often, real friendships.

The Flowaway spirit

A Flowaway retreat is a complete experience: physical, sensory, indulgent, musical, festive and deeply human.

You come to practise yoga, but also to discover a region, to taste, to listen, to laugh, to dance and to meet people. You take care of yourself without cutting yourself off from the world. You slow down, but you celebrate too. You recharge, while living intensely.

That is the spirit of our Yogi Festive Retreats: yoga, comfort and discovery, but above all pleasure, freedom and a great deal of sharing.

Because deep down, we do not just want to offer you a pause. We want to create an experience you will want to tell people about, and a community you will be happy to come back to.
