Practical guide

How much does a yoga retreat cost?

You feel like getting away for a few days, clearing your head and getting your body moving again. A yoga retreat appeals to you, but you have no idea what it really costs. That is perfectly normal: there is no standard price, and nobody ever explains what sits behind it. In this article we break everything down, item by item, along with the full budget to plan for and our best advice for choosing well.

Flowaway yoga retreat venue — an entirely private house in an exceptional setting

The essentials in 30 seconds

  • There is no standard price: two retreats of the same length can be worlds apart.
  • The price usually covers accommodation + all meals + all classes.
  • What drives the price: the standard of the venue, the teaching and the length of stay.
  • A retreat abroad is not necessarily more expensive than one in France.
  • At Flowaway: Entre Ciel et Terre, 4 days in the Alps, from €980, full board. Bookings open 14 September 2026.

Is there a standard price for a yoga retreat?

No, there is no benchmark price for a yoga retreat: two stays of the same length can advertise wildly different prices. Nor is it a question of country: a retreat abroad is not automatically more expensive than one in France.

What drives the price above all else is the standard of the venue chosen. Then come the teaching, the length of the stay and what the fee actually covers. That is why we would rather not hand you a ready-made price range that would mean very little: instead we explain what makes up a price, item by item, and then we give you ours.

What is included in the price?

A yoga retreat is an organised stay of several days that brings together accommodation, meals and yoga classes in one place, led by one or more teachers. The advertised price almost always covers those three items; travel to the venue, insurance and personal spending remain yours to cover.

In a well-designed retreat, the advertised price covers the bulk of the stay. Here is the most common breakdown, and it is also ours:

Included in the price

  • Accommodation, in a private venue chosen for its setting
  • All meals, from the first dinner to the last lunch
  • All classes, workshops and scheduled activities
  • The teachers' guidance from start to finish

To budget separately

  • Travel to the retreat venue
  • Your personal insurance
  • Individual extras (massages, souvenirs…)

What full budget should you plan for?

On top of the retreat price, add €30 to €150 of travel and your personal spending. For Entre Ciel et Terre, 4 days in the Alps from €980, a realistic total budget lands between €1,010 and €1,230.

The retreat price is not quite the budget for the trip. Here is a realistic example, built on our winter retreat in the Alps:

ItemExample — Entre Ciel et Terre (4 days, Le Grand-Bornand)
The retreat, full boardfrom €980
Travel to the venue≈ €30 to €150 depending on your departure city (train, car sharing)
Personal extras, optional€0 to €100
Realistic total budget≈ €1,010 to €1,230

Travel and extras are indicative and depend on where you set off from and what you fancy.

Why are the price gaps so wide?

Four factors explain most of the price gap between two yoga retreats: the standard of the venue, the teaching, the length of the stay and what the fee actually covers.

The standard of the venue is the heaviest variable. A shared room in a guesthouse and a room in an entirely private estate do not tell the same story, and that single item often accounts for most of the gap between two retreats.

The teaching is the least visible variable but the most decisive: how many teachers there are, their certifications (an RYT 500 certification represents 500 hours of training) and the time they actually spend with you. Being taught by certified teachers who are genuinely available is not the same as a class in a lecture hall.

The length of the stay weighs in mechanically: every extra night adds a night's accommodation and meals. The destination, on the other hand, matters less than people think. Going abroad does not necessarily cost more than staying in France; it all depends on the venue chosen. And a low price is never a bargain if the teaching is what has been trimmed.

What you pay for, at Flowaway

Flowaway is Alexandra Mauss and Maïwenn Vinchon, two yoga teachers who have been running retreats together in France and across Europe since 2023. Seven editions so far, from the bay of Propriano in Corsica to the Drôme Provençale, from Burgundy to the Alps, and soon the Catalan vineyards. We call them the Yogi Festive Retreats. Here, in their own words, is what that name covers.

A few days of switching off, a yoga mat, a beautiful setting… and behind all that? Months of research, of preparation, and a mass of choices that shape every detail of the experience. At Flowaway we do not do “low-cost yoga” breaks: we design mid to high-end retreats, where the practice is at the heart of the adventure, but where the venue, the comfort, the activities, the food and the small touches matter just as much.

Here, item by item, is what lies behind the price of a Flowaway retreat.

Venues chosen with real demands

The venue is often the first thing you fall for, and one of the first budget items. We do not sign with the first address that comes along: we look for premium, warm places with that little extra soul that makes you want to put your bags down and never leave.

Looks matter, of course. But we also look very closely at the essentials: a setting surrounded by nature, a proper room dedicated to the practice, and enough bedrooms and bathrooms to host the whole group comfortably for several days. They are sometimes just lines in a listing… but once you are there, they change everything.

Classes you do not get every day

A Flowaway retreat is not your Tuesday evening yoga class down the road, relocated somewhere prettier. Alexandra and Maïwenn, your two teachers, design every programme specifically for the retreat.

Alexandra Mauss is RYT 500 certified and teaches dynamic vinyasa and aerial yoga; Maïwenn Vinchon teaches yoga, yoga dance and creative movement.

We like to leave the beaten track: themed classes, aerial yoga, danced movement, meditation, playful or more intense workshops… The idea is not to pile up hours of practice, but to create real experiences around yoga, designed for the destination, the world of that retreat, and the people taking part.

Activities that are part of the journey

A Flowaway retreat does not stop at the mat. We give real space to the experiences around it, chosen to suit the destination and the identity of each stay.

A vineyard visit, a bike ride, kayaking, paddleboarding, a mountain hike with lunch at altitude, and so on. We look for moments that show the region in a different light, that build connection and make you want to share.

These experiences come at a cost, which we build fully into the budget. But they are part of what we want to offer: a complete, generous, different stay.

The table, a real part of the experience

What lands on your plate matters just as much as what happens on the mat. For every retreat we look for a chef who fits the spirit of the stay: generous, flavourful, carefully prepared food, from someone available, attentive and able to adapt to what we have in mind.

Long shared table on a Flowaway yoga retreat — generous, colourful food
The table, a moment in its own right on Flowaway retreats.

We accommodate everyone's needs as far as we can, but our retreats are not systematically vegetarian. Flowaway has a resolutely epicurean side: we love long shared tables, good produce, and those aperitifs that put the flavours of the region centre stage.

The choice of chef, the quality of the produce, the way the menus are built: all of it weighs on the budget. For us, the table is fully part of the experience.

A first in 2027

For Entre Ciel et Terre (January 2027, French Alps), private chef Adam Brunet takes over the kitchen for the whole stay. A private chef since 2018 after ten years in hotels and restaurants, he cooks seasonal French food from produce he selects himself, from breakfast through to dinner, with plated dishes and never two identical menus. The cooking will not be vegetarian, but it adapts to specific dietary needs.

And then there is everything you do not see…

Beyond accommodation, meals, classes and activities, the price also reflects a whole body of invisible work done upstream: painstaking research into the venue, selecting the chef and suppliers, scouting activities, studying transport and accessibility, building the programme, creating the materials, talking to partner brands, preparing the goody bags…

Every retreat represents dozens of hours of preparation, often several months before you arrive. Work nobody ever sees, but which makes all the difference: once you are there, you have nothing left to think about or organise. We anticipate every detail so that your only job is to enjoy it, fully.

The Flowaway touch

Finally, there is what fits into no budget line at all, but which makes us who we are: the Flowaway touch.

Personalised gifts in the colours of each edition, small touches thought through for everyone, themed classes, festive moments, themed evenings and of course our now iconic white party. We get ready, we cover ourselves in gold and silver at the tattoo workshop, we put on our finest outfit, we laugh, we dance, we let go. That is often where the bonds formed during the retreat take on a whole other dimension.

It is for all these reasons that we like to call our retreats Yogi Festive Retreats: yoga, yes, but also creativity, discovery, beautiful tables, celebration, new faces and a great deal of sharing.

Choosing a Flowaway retreat is therefore not just booking a few nights and a few yoga classes. It is choosing an experience thought through and organised from A to Z, where every detail has been cared for with one aim: that you can, for a few days, simply let yourself be carried.

The result shows: 70% of our guests come back from one edition to the next.

How much do Flowaway retreats cost?

A Flowaway retreat costs from €980, full board and everything included on site.

Entre Ciel et Terre, from 14 to 17 January 2027 at Le Grand-Bornand in the French Alps, starts at €980: 4 days and 3 nights full board, mat-based and aerial yoga with Alexandra Mauss (RYT 500 certified) and Maïwenn Vinchon (yoga dance), and, for the first time, private chef Adam Brunet in the kitchen on site for the whole stay. Bookings open on 14 September 2026.

The price covers accommodation, all meals, every class and workshop, and the activities of the stay; travel to the venue is yours to arrange. A deposit is required at booking, and our cancellation policy provides a full refund up to 90 days before departure.

The Viva La Vida retreat (2 to 6 June 2027, a private masia in the Catalan vineyards near Barcelona) will have its price announced when bookings open, in early October 2026.

How do you compare two retreats without getting it wrong?

To compare two yoga retreats without getting it wrong, check five things: what the price includes, the type of room, how many hours of practice there are, the teachers' certifications and the cancellation policy.

Before booking, ask these five questions. The answers almost always explain the price gaps:

  1. What exactly does the price include, meals and activities?
  2. Is the room shared or private, and how comfortable is it?
  3. How many hours of practice are actually planned, and at what levels?
  4. Who is teaching, with what certifications and what experience?
  5. What is the cancellation policy, in writing?

Frequently asked questions about retreat prices

There is no standard price. It depends first on the standard of the venue, then on the teaching, the length of the stay and what the price includes. As an example, the Flowaway retreat Entre Ciel et Terre, 4 days and 3 nights full board in the French Alps, starts at €980.
Not necessarily. It is not the country that sets the price, it is the standard of the venue chosen. A retreat in France at an exceptional address can cost more than one abroad in a simpler place.
Add up what it replaces: several nights of accommodation, full board, several classes a day and a programme organised from end to end. Book the same things separately and you almost always exceed the price of a retreat, without the group energy or the switching off.
Yes, there are more economical options, usually with simple, shared accommodation. Check what has been cut back, whether that is comfort, the number of meals or the teaching, so you choose knowing what you are getting.
Almost never, at Flowaway as elsewhere: everyone makes their own way to the venue. Guests often organise car sharing from the bigger cities.
No. At Flowaway a deposit confirms your place and the balance is settled before the retreat begins. The exact terms are set out in our terms and conditions.
At Flowaway you are refunded in full up to 90 days before the retreat. After that, the terms are detailed in our terms and conditions. Always read that clause, wherever you book.
Yes: Flowaway retreats are open to all levels, and Alexandra and Maïwenn adapt every practice. Most guests actually come on their own, and leave with new friends.
